modx cms: a very promising CMS

I recently spent some time developing on the modx cms platform. As far as content management systems go this one is the most promising that I've seen. The downside is that it is still very young and it hasn't had a major version release as of this writing. In fact, they haven't released a stable version in the last 5 months but apparently there is a complete overhaul going on there and new next version promises to be even better.

Among the things I liked are a very clear admin panel and a rich PHP API for developing customizations. Oh, and they managed to find a way to allow designers to do anything they wanted without using ugly nested tables like many other systems.
